Tom Ahern proudly returned to Milford Care Centre this week to handover an impressive €18,465.80 to Fundraising Manager Anne Marie Hayes, the proceeds of the Night at the Dogs Fundraiser he held in Limerick Greyhound Stadium on Saturday 7th October.

Speaking after making the presentation Tom was keen to thank everyone who supported the event in some way.

“I’d just like to thank everyone who contributed to this night in so many various ways, from those who sold tickets, purchased tickets, contributed raffle prizes, people who sponsored races – thank you very much.

For everyone that attended on the night, including special guests Barry Nash, Kyle Hayes and Ian Fortune (Greyhound Journalist) and everyone else who contributed and made the night so great, thank you so much.

It’s all you that have contributed this so, it’s a wonderful cause and I’m glad to have done it. Thank you.”

The driving force behind his fundraising efforts was a desire to give back to the charity which have been a tremendous support to Tom’s family this year, with his late mother receiving hospice care prior to her passing in May.

Tom is a Welfare Officer for Greyhound Racing Ireland and for him Limerick Greyhound Stadium was a natural first stop for his fundraising efforts saying that he knew that the greyhound community would get behind the efforts and support it as best they could.

Milford Hospice Fundraiser Saturday 7th October

On Saturday 7th October, Limerick Greyhound Stadium will host a fundraising event for Milford Hospice.

Tom Ahern and his family wanted to honour the memory of their mother and to repay in some way the kindness and care shown by Milford Hospice in her palliative care earlier this year.  Tom (a welfare officer with Greyhound Racing Ireland) decided that a fundraising event at Limerick Greyhound Stadium would give him the opportunity to raise such funds.
