RCÉ ISSUES FURTHER WARM WEATHER UPDATE – WEDNESDAY 15 JULY

Rásaíocht Con Éireann (RCÉ) has today issued a further update regarding racing and trial arrangements as the current period of exceptionally warm weather continues across parts of the country.

The welfare of racing greyhounds remains RCÉ’s highest priority, and all operational decisions continue to be taken following ongoing assessment of weather conditions, Met Éireann forecasts and in consultation with local racing officials.

Following a review of the latest weather information, the following racing schedule amendments have been confirmed:

WEDNESDAY 15TH JULY

Mullingar Greyhound Stadium - RACING IS CANCELLED - please note this card will be raced on Friday 17th July 

Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium - RACING IS CANCELLED

THURSDAY 16 JULY

  • Enniscorthy Greyhound Stadium – RACING IS CANCELLED.
  • Kilcohan Park Greyhound Stadium (Waterford) - Racing Moved to Friday with first race off 7.17pm.
  • Limerick Greyhound Stadium - Racing moved to Friday 17th July - start time 10.14am

FRIDAY 17 JULY

The following rescheduled meetings will commence at 8.30pm to facilitate racing during the cooler part of the day:

  • Clonmel Greyhound Stadium – First race 8.30pm.
  • Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium – First race 8.30pm
  • Newbridge Greyhound Stadium – First race 8.30pm.

SATURDAY 18 JULY

  • Curraheen Park, Cork – Racing will commence at 8.30pm.

Track activities and official trials will continue to operate in accordance with the latest weather guidance and any restrictions in place. Owners and trainers are advised to contact their local racing office regarding trial arrangements and any local operational updates.

In line with RCÉ’s Warm Weather Protocols, water baths will continue to be available at all racing venues. Owners and trainers are reminded to follow the guidance contained in “Caring for Greyhounds in Warm Weather” to ensure the continued welfare of their animals, a copy of which can be found here.

Given the regional variation in weather conditions across the country, additional local amendments may be introduced where necessary. Any such changes will be subject to approval by the Director of Regulation.

RCÉ will continue to monitor weather forecasts closely and will issue further updates should conditions require.
