It’s with real sadness we must report the passing of Thomas Melia, a member of one of the most prominent greyhound families in Ireland.

Tom was involved in the sport for many years and was lucky enough to own some very talented trackers. In recent times, his standout performer was Welltimer, who won twelve times. He also had wonderful joy with Holycross Leah. Owned by Tom’s daughter Mary and trained by his brother Gerry, the brilliant bitch reached and ran up the 2016 Derby decider.

Tom was a regular visitor to track and was a popular figure.

We would likely to send on our sincerest condolences to his wife Marie, his daughter Mary, son Thomas, his brothers Gerry and Paddy, sister Mary, his brother in law Shay, his nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

May He Rest In peace.
