BRENDAN GERVIN

BRENDAN GERVIN

The Tyrone and Northern greyhound fraternity lost a great friend with the sad passing of Brendan Gervin of Coalisland on Sunday.

Brendan was an entrepreneur in his native Coalisland and still found time to enjoy his past time of racing his dogs at his local track, Dungannon but also regularly entered dogs at Lifford, Dundalk and Drumbo.

Of course, he also handled many top-class greyhounds, many carrying his famous ‘Regards’ prefix and, when he felt he had the ammunition, would venture to Shelbourne Park where his dogs were always shown the utmost respect by the layers.

As well as breeding and racing dogs, Brendan also spent some years as manager of Dungannon track in the 1980s. Of the many champions that passed through his hands, the likes of As Regards, Regards To Luke and Regards To Enda, who was later name-changed to Tyrur Enda, were particularly good.

Brendan was pre-deceased by his son John Pat, while his beloved wife Mary passed on some thirteen years ago. We send on our sincerest condolences to his children Yvonne, Barbara, Estelle, Alice, Bronwyn and Joe, his brothers and sisters, sons and daughters in law, grand- children, extended family and many friends in greyhound racing and beyond.

May He Rest In Peace.
