IMPRESSIVE FAITH SETS STANDARD AT NEWBRIDGE

Ian Fortune

Tullymurry Faith brought her tally to two from two in the second round of the Brownstown Tango & NTSC Unraced Bitch 525 at Newbridge on Friday night, in turn setting the standard as she emerged a most impressive winner in 28.45.

Eamon Maginn’s daughter of Droopys Sydney and Droopys Ring as drawn in four and she quickly might light work of her task, breaking smartly to lead the field into the bend. Pennys Palermo offered the most resistance to the leader but faded home.

Instead, Forest Roanna ran on well from fourth to grab second on the run in with Lunas Star coming through for third. Tullymurry Faith was too good, however. Showing real pace and fluency throughout, she coasted home our lengths clear in 28.45.

WHAT A DIAMOND

Forest Diamond went one place better than her sister Forest Roanna in the opening heat.

She was again left flat-footed in the early yards as Ballymac Snazzy set the pace up front but she ran a tremendous corner to move third early in the back straight.

Once doing so, Paddy Kehoe’s powerful daughter of Dorotas Wildcat and Droopys Elite was always going to be hard to contain. Ballymac Snazzy and Burgess Josie battled for the lead into the third turn but they were stalked by Forest Diamond.

Ballymac Snazzy got the better of the battle up front to lead the field into the home straight but Forest Diamond finished with a wet sail to join and pass her inside the final fifty yards. At the line, Forest Diamond had a length in hand on Ballymac Snazzy in 28.58 with Burgess Josie another three lengths adrift in third.

A MESSY AFFAIR GOES TO CORNETTO

After a superb display in the opening round, Burgess Rapid was the warm favourite to win the final heat and everything seemed to be going to plan until she checked up badly on the run in.

This allowed Cornetto to come through and record a second win in the competition for David Hanlon.

The daughter of Laughil Blake and Love Honey was sitting second at the time and she took her opportunity with all four paws, hitting the line six and a half lengths to the good in 28.83. Oh So Sweet and Illkeepitdark couldn’t be separated for second with the jug declaring a dead-heat.
