RCÉ ISSUES UPDATED GUIDANCE AMID ONGOING WARM WEATHER - UPDATE MONDAY 13TH JULY

GRI

Following a meeting earlier today, Rásaíocht Con Éireann (RCÉ) has issued an update regarding racing and trial arrangements as warm weather conditions continue.

All decisions are taken with the welfare and care of racing greyhounds into consideration.

Following its review of weather forecasts by Met Eireann (along with the extension of the Status Yellow Warning issued), and in conjunction with local racing officials, RCÉ has confirmed the following amendments to tomorrows racing  and stadia activity schedules:

MONDAY 13TH JULY

All track related activities from 1pm today (Monday 13th July) until 7am on Wednesday 15th July (due to Status Yellow - High Temperature warning for Cork, Kerry, Limerick & Galway) are suspended at the following stadia:

Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium, Cork

Youghal Greyhound Stadium

Kingdom Greyhound Stadium, Tralee

Limerick Greyhound Stadium

Galway Greyhound Stadium

TUESDAY 14TH JULY

Kingdom Greyhound Stadium:  Racing is cancelled

Shelbourne Park Greyhound Stadium:  Has been passed for racing

Given the regional variation in temperatures and weather conditions across the country, individual tracks may implement amendments to existing schedules in line with local forecasted conditions subject to working within the overall guidance, direction and approval by the Director of Regulation. Any regional variation locally would continue to require such approval.

With that in mind, owners and trainers for stadia outside the Yellow Weather Status zones, are advised to contact their racing office regarding local arrangements for unofficial (private) trials.

In line with RCÉ warm weather protocols, water baths will be available at all locations, and greyhound owners and trainers are asked to refer to the guidance document “Caring for Greyhounds in Warm Weather” to ensure the continued welfare of their animals, a copy of which can be found here.

RCÉ will continue to monitor conditions and provide further updates as appropriate throughout the week.
