Galway continues their busy schedule tonight as the opening round heats of the Martin Fahy Memorial A4/A5 525 get underway, alongside the opening heats of the Horan-Family-Syndicate A6/A7 525
Of the two stakes, the Martin Fahy Memorial 525 has an attractive 3,000 on offer to the eventual winner and there are four heats down for decision tonight.
In heat one, Kerryroad Fancy comes in fresh from a rough passage in her last outing at Youghal. However, prior to that, she won her debut race in 29.40 and she clearly is a leading player in this contest. The Albert Mullins-trained daughter of Head Bound gets the vote to double her career tally, with Hanover Maryann also expected to go close out wide in six.
The second heat can see Hanover John make a winning start to life over four-bends. Leeanne Fleming’s runner was a very impressive winner in 19.35 .10s last time out and he given his pedigree, the step-up in trip shouldn’t prove an issue. He is well-drawn in red and has the ability to make-all for connections.
Heat three looks quite open but while the trip may be a tad on the sharp side, Maree Solano is the narrow selection for Ronan Hanniffy and S.M Rosier. The daughter of Magical Bale won her novice race in 29.22 and although she has failed to add to her tally since, she has shown glimpses of promise in defeats over further. The likes of Hanover Sparrow and the experienced Lallys Legacy can also play a part.
In the concluding heat of the night, the vote goes the way of Ballyea Marshall to bounce back from a narrow defeat last time out. On that occasion, the son of Ballymac Best was unlucky when going down to a narrow three parts of a length defeat and he can get back on track from a suitable draw in five tonight.
HORAN FAMILY SYNDICATE STAKE
Prior to that, the opening round heats of the Horan Family Syndicate A6/A7 525 get underway and Magical Eloise can set the standard in the first of three heats.
Another hailing from the Pat Guilfoyle kennel, it’s very unlikely that this lady’s ceiling is A6/A7, so a big effort can be expected from the choicely bred daughter of Signet Ace and Burgess Sarah. Drawn in five, she is still a maiden but has clocked well in sprints so a bold bid can be expected. That said, Writeitoff and Kiltartan Chosen also look very capable in what could prove the heat of the night.
Evan McAuliffe is a man to be followed at Galway and he is represented by Hazelhill Breeze in heat two. The well-marked blue brindle and white was impressive when staying on well to win a rent sprint at the Connacht venue and he certainly gave the impression that a step-up would pay dividends. Killaspic Lotto and Lady Belfort also warrant respect.
The final heat looks like an open affair but Brickhill Dolly is the selection to shed her maiden tag at the third time of asking. The daughter of Grangeview Ten, owned by Albert Long and John Collins, has been the subject of market support in her two runs to date and while she has been soundly beaten, she has a nice draw in one to get her head in front.
