BELOVED PET AND WONDERFUL RACER TOMPSON PASSES ON

Ian Fortune

Rose Buggy got in touch over the weekend to pass on the sad news that one of the best greyhounds to ever come out of the Kilgraney Kennels, Kilgraney Tomson, had sadly passed on not long before his twelfth birthday.

During his racing career, he was quite the star with his biggest success coming in the 2014 Gold Cup at Shelbourne Park. To highlight the quality of his display on that famous night, the likes of Paradise Silva, Cabra Buck and Ardfert Thunder were behind him.

A greyhound with wonderful trapping ability and exceptional early speed, he was certainly the best and fastest son of Aries Son and will be long remembered as a thorough professional. We send on our condolences to all the Buggy clan. Rose penned a few lovely words about Tomson.

“It was a weekend of mixed emotions in Kilgraney kennels, while recording 4 winners from 8 runners we said goodbye to our beloved pet Kilgraney Tomson.

Our homebred hero who gave Mary her first taste of classic success as a trainer when landing the Tipperary Cup in July 2013. He later went on to land the 2014 Gold Cup at Shelbourne Park.

Owned by Thomas, Tomson was a real champion who thrived on racing and always gave his very best. He won 15 races and clocked up 4 in a row after his 4th birthday before being retired.

Tomson lived out his days in the green paddocks of Kilgraney before closing his eyes just 4 months shy of his 12th birthday.

He was more than a just a dog, he was a friend, a best friend especially to Tom. The place just isn't the same without him.”
