ALL ROADS LEAD TO KILKENNY THIS FRIDAY

Ian Fortune

There will be a wonderful atmosphere and sense of occasion at Kilkenny this Friday as Minister for Agriculture, Food & The Marine Martin Heydon does the honours of officially opening the newly refurbished Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium.

Kilkenny has always been a bustling hive of activity with the bar and betting rings always busy but one suspects they will move to the next level with the new facilities. Friday’s card will feature three finals on aswell as 7 supporting races, which include a valuable and quality packed Open 525.

Each of the races are sponsored and worth at least €1,000 to the winner. The night will also act as a fundraiser for Young Irelands GAA Club and a huge crowd seems assured. If you are planning on making a journey to Kilkenny, please be aware that the doors will open at 6.30pm, while the opening race is scheduled for 7.30pm. All are more than welcome and a visit comes highly recommended.
