Visitors to Shelbourne Park can now take the journey through greyhound racing history with the unveiling of a new museum exhibit celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Sporting Press sponsorship of the Irish Oaks.
This remarkable milestone makes the Sporting Press the longest continuous sponsor of a Classic event at Shelbourne Park, reflecting an enduring partnership that has helped shape one of the most prestigious competitions on the greyhound racing calendar.
The newly installed exhibit features the front page of every Sporting Press edition covering the Irish Oaks winners over the past 35 years. Showcasing iconic photographs, memorable moments and headline-making performances, the collection provides a unique visual history of the competition and the champions who have etched their names into Irish Oaks history books.
For many visitors, the display will be a walk down memory lane, bringing back memories of some of the sport's greatest stars and most unforgettable finals. Newer fans will also have the opportunity to discover the rich history and tradition behind one of Irish greyhound racing's premier events.
Adding a modern touch, the exhibit includes a QR code that links directly to a digital archive containing all 35 years of featured front pages. Visitors can simply scan the code on their smartphone and explore the complete collection at their leisure, allowing them to delve deeper into the stories, photographs and coverage that accompanied each Irish Oaks winner.
The exhibit is a fantastic addition to the Shelbourne Park Museum and highlights not only the rich heritage of the Irish Oaks, but also the Sporting Press's long-standing commitment to supporting and promoting greyhound racing.
