AMBOBBY STARS IN MCQUILLAN TREBLE AT LIFFORD

Lifford Greyhound Stadium is just one week away from the commencement of the BOYLE Sports Oaks, however, there was a notable treble on Saturday night for the kennel of John McQuillan.

Indeed, while the treble alone was a fantastic achievement, the performance of Irish debutant Ambobby was worth the admission fee alone as the October ’24 whelp dominated from the outset, producing one of the most impressive debuts ever recorded at the Northwest track.

Having recently returned from the UK, ‘Bobby’ came into the contest on the back of some serious trial efforts around the Brandywell Stadium and, as such, was installed as the 1/3 favourite to prevail. Well away from trap three to record a decent 4.34 sectional, the son of King Sheeran - Droopys Pick immediately outpaced his rivals to establish a sizeable lead before powering up the hill to win by six and a half lengths. The time was a blistering 17.41 and, on the evidence of his four-bend trial form, expect more of the same when stepped up in trip.

Aside from the brilliant performance of Ambobby, the McQuillan treble was completed with two fine victories from Roving Jet (6/4) and False Rumour (1/2). Both Lifford regulars, ‘Jet’ secured the double as he continued his excellent run of form, following up his superb 16.68 victory at Derry on Monday with a 17.96 success, coming home six lengths clear of Boujee in second.

Shortly after, False Rumour (Ballyhimikin Jet - Kishlawn Shakira) secured an eighth career success and completed a memorable treble for the kennel in the process. Quickly into stride from trap six, the handy 65-pounder was never seriously threatened as he set a strong gallop throughout to cross the line five lengths clear of Is Mise Connie, stopping the clock in a smart 29.15.
