There’s plenty of notable action at Dundalk this evening with a number of sweepstakes semi-finals with the finals part of next Sunday’s Dundalk International card.
But the undoubted feature of tonight’s card is the final of the Paddy & Eamon Carroll Memorial.
Worth an impressive €3,000 to the winner, the stake has provided some superb racing in recent weeks and tonight’s final should be a fitting conclusion. Sing Hallelujah and Barnhill Dancer impressed in the semis with both making every inch and the duo can again contest the early lead.
With a clear run on the outside of the track, Barnhill Dancer could emerge as the one to beat but Sing Hallelujah isn’t going to surrender any ground into the bend. If the pair were to bump, it would throw the contest wide open with Coolemount Blaze potentially the best equipped to take advantage.
A massive finisher, he will arrive late and fast. Barnhill Dancer is the choice, however. Val Rogers’ son of Droopy Got It impressed in each of his last two starts, posting 28.87 and 28.85, and a repeat of that form may be good enough. The opening race at Dundalk is scheduled for 7.50pm.
