BACK TO BACK WINS FOR THE EXCITING MELODYS VIM

Barry Drake

MELODYS VIM took the feature race of the night in Tralee on Saturday night as the Maurice O'Connor trained winner came home clear of his nearest rival in the €500 RCETS Traceability App Stakes Final.

After a 28.47 victory last week, the bright prospect, a son of Droopys Buick and Melodys Shiny, was sent to traps as the short priced 1-6 favourite. He didn't produce his quickest start from trap two, but he moved inside and he showed electric early pace to storm up the inside and lead at the opening corner. Knocknarea Blue was within touching distance till midway down the back straight, however, the leader then opened up and he quickly put the race to bed. A very smart youngster, the winner came home with seven and a half lengths to spare over Shelly I Said, in 28.71. (A5).

IN OTHER RACES

Tokenfire Blaze was the only other winner to dip under the 29-second barrier as Seamus Cooper's dog just got the better of Realism in an exciting end to racing at the Tralee circuit. Making all the running, Tokenfire Blaze delivered a fine performance to land the spoils, in 28.91. The runner-up showed excellent staying power to get within a short head at the line. (A2).

South Of Georgia beat a strong field of runners to land the seventh, an A0/A1 570. In control before the opening turn, the Michael A Reidy trained runner was flying down the back straight. Owned by Donal O'Connell, the outcome was never in any doubt as the son of Droopys Sydney galloped clear to beat Moybella Pixie, by seven lengths, in 30.87. (570).
