About the Organisation:

Rásaíocht Con Éireann / Greyhound Racing Ireland is a commercial semi-state body under the remit of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine. (DAFM). RCÉ/GRI has licensed a total of 15 tracks in the Republic, of which nine are owned and controlled by the organisation. The remainder are owned and operated by private enterprise. RCÉ/GRI is responsible for the control, promotion, regulation, and ongoing development of the greyhound racing industry in Ireland. The organisation operates a multi-faceted business model, incorporating:

- Regulatory and Governance Functions
- Control & Welfare of Greyhounds
- Commercial Racing Operations
- Events & Hospitality Services
- Tote & Wagering Operations
- Centralised Head Office support functions (Finance, IT, Events, Marketing and Laboratory)

This role supports the delivery of RCÉ/GRI’s 5-Year Strategic Plan by strengthening workforce planning, data integrity, and people management practices to enable a high-performing and wellgoverned organisation. The organisation employs approximately 700 individuals, including both full-time and part-time employees, reflecting the operational scale and complexity of a multi-site, event-driven business.

Role Overview

The Race Night Supervisor role is a designated role in the industry that ensures the implementation of rules in all areas of racing operations as well as in regulatory compliance during any racing event.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop a detailed understanding of all aspects of racing operations, including racing regulations, welfare standards and track operations.

  • Supervise racing operations on race days or nights as well as daytime and evening greyhound trials at locations assigned by your manager.

  • Supervision of Sweepstake Trap Draws and the allocation of Race Reserves.

  • Supervise grounds and maintenance staff on race days/nights to ensure that the racing circuit is of the highest possible standard relating to safety and providing a fit for purpose racing surface.

  • Operate the greyhound grading system, the RMS and the electronic trials booking system

  • Deal with owners & trainers professionally and courteously at all times with a particular focus during trial sessions & race day implementation of Rules and Regulations of Racing

  • Taking entries for racing and greyhound trials

  • Comply with all RCÉ procedures to include all statutory procedures - Fire, Health and Safety, hygiene, internal audit.

  • To carry out any other reasonable task as assigned by management to meet business needs
