ZENITH GIZO IMPRESSIVE ONCE MORE IN THE KINGDOM

Barry Drake

ZENITH GIZMO (Dromana Bucko-Droopys Zero), trained by Corona Ryan for owners Birol Nadir and Paddy Kehoe, overcame crowding at the opening corner when setting the standard in the semi-finals of the John & Mary Killeacle Dolwing Memorial A1 570 at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium on Friday night.

The 2-1 winner recovered quickly after the crowding at the first turn, and the pacey performer displayed big speed on the back straight. Hitting the front before the third corner, Zenith Gizmo powered home to beat the early leader Pretend Time, by a length, in 31.28. Five and a half lengths back to Daleroad Best in third place.

In the opening semi-final, Coolavanny Shona (Malachi-Geelo Celticgold) scored for trainer Neilus O'Connell and owner Patrick Griffin. The 2-1 turned fourth as Drumshanbo Susie led. Last approaching the final corner, the strong-running tracker flew up the inside of the track, getting up in the final strides to beat Deerjet Matilda, by half a length, in 31.49. Jaypess Cooper half a length back in third.

Final draw:
1 PRETEND TIME
2 ZENITH GIZMO
3 DEERJET MATILDA
4 COOLAVANNY SHONA
5 JAYPEES COOPER
6 DALEROAD BEST
