UNRACED STARS DYNAMO AND FAIRY FLY AT ENNISCORTHY

Ian Fortune

Toolmaker Dynamo and Luminous Fairy produced the standout performances at a packed Enniscorthy on Monday evening as both left observers in no doubt that they could be superstars in the future.

The opening round of the Wexford GOBA Open Unraced Stake made up much of the card, which was part of a hugely successful fundraiser for the track. Those that ventured to Enniscorthy were treated to a wonderful atmosphere, a great sense of occasion and some exceptional racing.

DYNAMO LOOKS VERY SPECIAL

None went faster than Toolmaker Dynamo, however.

Robert Gleeson and Willie Hyslop have shared plenty of success together in the past and they will be dreaming of more with their outstanding son of Droopys Flytline and Droopys Dancer.

A half brother to the gifted Droopys Kathleen amongst others, the youngster was awesome in Heat 3 as he overcame a tardy start and a little opening bend traffic to run down the long-time leader Ballinabola Faye.

The latter flew to the third turn, taking over on the opening corner to enter the back straight with five lengths in hand. Toolmaker Dynamo steered a wide path, largely avoiding some traffic on his inner to go second and once doing so, he had simply too much pace and power for the leader.

Closing at speed into the third turn, he moved upsides and past the leader at the final bend. From there he powered right away to win by an ever-increasing seven and a half lengths in a stunning 28.72 (rated .20 slow). Ballinabola Faye was second with a nine length gap to Donishall Woods in third.

It was a massive run from the winner. Where he will go in his career has yet to be seen but given his incredible power, he seems destined to be a star.

FAIRY FLIES

Minutes later it was the turn of Luminous Fairy to win by a wide margin.

Her victory was far more straightforward. Denis Lennon’s daughter of Grangeview Ten and Ballymac Tam had simply far too much ammunition for her rivals, leading on the turn before putting the result beyond any doubt to halfway.

Maintaining a merciless gallop throughout, Luminous Fairy emerged a twelve length scorer over Terrific Tayto in 28.77 (.20 slow) with O Lad another three lengths adrift in third.

WILD SHOWS PROMISE

Shanks Whelan and Liam Butler were on the mark in the opening heat with Ballinabola Wild leading early to contain the challenge of Blue Winter by a half length in 29.23 (.20 slow).

The son of Glengar Bale and Ballinabola Rum had to work hard for the lead but he drove the bend from trap five to go to the front.

MATTY WINS WELL

Mattys Says was a comfortable winner of Heat 2 for the Usher Syndicate, going up fast from the outside to lead from the early yards.

The son of Glengar Bale and Monalee Ruth proceeded to see off Dashing Millie by three lengths in 29.22 (.20 slow).

ANARCHY IN HEAT 5

Son Of Anarchy was a good winner of Heat 5 for owners Tom Lambert and John White.

The Joe Anglim trained son of Tullig Raven and Liberty Eve went up fast from three, just behind Monbeg Monaco, before joining that rival as they hit the back straight.

The duo contested the lead down the back straight before Son Of Anarchy began to assert around the third turn. He then dug in to contain the late charge of Miss Lackalea by a length and a half in 29.15 (.20 slow).

PARADISE BACKERS IN CLOVER

The final heat went the way of Sean Meade’s Paradise Clover.

A daughter of Mcinerney and Paradise Brook, the David Buckley trained youngster made the most of her inside line to move to the front at the second turn before going on to beat Maireads Hoffa by a thirteen length margin in 29.36 (.20 slow).
