PUPS TO SHINE AT A BUSY KILKENNY

As seems to be the norm at Kilkenny each Friday, tonight’s card acts as a benefit for one of the many local GAA clubs.

Tonight, Dunamaggin Ladies Football Club are likely to bring a fine crowd to the stadium and those present can expect to see a couple of big runs in the two finals on the card.

MYRA TO REMAIN UNBEATEN

There is a €1,000 on offer to the winner of the John O’Shea Memorial ON2 525 and it features some very promising youngsters including the likely favourite The Other Myra.

A daughter of Tommy Shelby and Whitings Gift, she seems to have the ability to match her wonderful pedigree.

A good winner on debut in 29.24, she went faster last week, coming home clear in 29.05 on a track rated .40 slow. Should she come away on terms, the Jennifer O’Donnell trained youngster is likely to quickly establish herself as the one to beat.

Honey Pallas is also respected after winning her first two career starts but the main danger to The Other Myra may come in the form of Lacken Mandy. She has shown plenty in her two previous outings, including behind The Other Myra last week and it would be no surprise to see her go close.

LEVI LOOKS SERIOUS

A couple of The Other Myras siblings will be in action in the other final on the card, that of the Glory Kennels ON1 525.

Both Born Sassy and The Other Perla have shown plenty of promise and are likely to get involved but Portumna Levi is clearly the one to beat.

After some superb qualifying trials, he justified favouritism on debut to pick up the aforementioned Born Sassy. He missed the start badly on debut and was held up on a couple of occasions but somehow got up in the dying yards to win in 29.36.

It’s no exaggeration to suggest he could go a half second faster tonight and is confidently selected to emerge on top before going on to bigger and better things.
