In recent months we highlighted the heroics of veterans Nomadic Bolt and Mahogany Sydney winning races at a great age.

Paddys Day became the latest of the old stagers to come to our attention when scoring at Limerick on Friday night at the ripe age of six.

Pat Hartnett’s son of Magical Bale came from off the back to win Friday’s opener in 29.76, claiming the eighth success of hie career. It’s worth pointing out that, aside from being one of the eldest winners this year, he must also be amongst the biggest dogs to taste victory.

Weighing in at a whopping 90lbs, he clearly still has a love for the game and huge congratulations must go to Pat Hartnett for turning him out in such great condition. Incredibly, he debuted at 79lbs back in May 2022, but like us all he has put on a bit of timber over the years.
