MONARCH STILL THE THIRD BEND KING

For the fourth week running, Bouncing Monarch dipped under the 17 second barrier to the third turn in the quarter finals of the BOYLE Sports Irish Greyhound Derby on Saturday night.
The sensational tracker was absolutely flawless as he rocketed from the inside box to hold a commanding lead from the opening stride.
Posting 16.87, he equalled his own personal best, while it’s also worth pointing out that Glengar Phantom also posted a 16.87 in the second round to share honour of fastest of the Derby third bend sectional.
Next fastest on Saturday night in the Derby was Low Profile as he too shot from traps to make every inch. He clocked 17.01 to the third turn before going on to win in 29.21.
Croydon Avenger led to the third turn for the first time in the Derby in the opening heat, posting a quick 17.09. He would go on to score in 29.31.
We put down Hackney Dancer as the third bend leader in the remaining heat with a 17.24 return but Im Here and Sleight Of Hand were within millimetres in second and third.
