MONARCH STAYS IN IRELAND AND MISSES TOWCESTER

Ian Fortune

Bouncing Monarch will miss the Star Sports & Orchestrate English Derby with owner Dave Fradgley making the decision with a late summer campaign in Ireland on the cards.

Of course, he was amongst the favourites for Towcester glory following his stunning Kirby Memorial success but the classic comes too soon after five weeks of intense action at Limerick.

The son of Deerjet Sydney will return to Fradgley and take in a few races in the UK but ultimately, the plan is to return to Ireland and Michael O’Donovan with the Irish Greyhound Derby target.

Fradgley broke the news on the Talking Dogs Podcast, speaking to Barry Drake, giving his reasons for the decision while also highlighting the incredible journey he and his friends have been on over the past few weeks, culminating in a scintillating success in the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial.

Make sure to tune into the Talking Dogs Podcast this afternoon (released at noon or soon after) and listen to Barry Drake’s chat with the happiest man in greyhound racing.
