MONARCH AND JAMES AGAIN TO THE FORE IN THIRD BEND TABLE

Much like a week earlier, Bouncing Monarch and Wi Can James were right to the fore in the third bend sectionals table.
Bouncing Monarch went fastest with a 16.93 return as he again left some talented rivals in his shadows before going on to stop the clock in 29.13.
Meanwhile, Wi Can James got loose for the second week running again dipped under the 17 second barrier. Posting 16.98 to the third turn, it also highlights just how fast he was from the third bend to the line. Indeed, his 12.12 home is amongst the very fastest of the Derby thus far and gives a clear indication of his strength.
It’s perhaps no surprise that Waitingforastar was even faster from the third turn. He posted 17.04 to that point and a brilliant 12.09 home to win in 29.13. He won’t always get off the front but his incredible power means he must be taken seriously as a Derby challenger.
There was little separating Grouchos Chief (17.06), Hackney Dancer (17.07) and Harvard Square (17.07) to the third turn, while Firstpastthepost (17.12) and Coloursaregreen (17.24) completed the eight third round leaders to the third turn.
