Singalong Magic is clearly destined for big things. On Monday night she justified odds-on favouritism to win her semi-final of the Kiltrea Kennels Open Unraced 525, leaving her rivals chasing shadows.

The other heat went the way of Ashwood Ozzy but the headlines simply had to go to Singalong Magic.

SINGALONG ON SONG

A 4-5 favourite, despite suffering defeat a week earlier in the second round, she quickly seized control for Pat Buckley and Gilbert Anderson.

The well bred daughter of Shima Shine and Newinn Liz was in front from the opening strides, posting a rapid 3.20 sectional, before powering clear.

Her kennel companion Barnfield Jack took up the chase but had no answer to Singalong Magic. Maintaining a relentless gallop to the line, the November ’24 whelp emerged a ready six length winner in a brilliant 28.53 (.20 slow). It was a displayed that confirmed what many already knew; she is going to be star.

OZZY SHOWS DETERMINATION

The second heat went the way of Ashwood Ozzy as he forced his way to the front down the back straight to emerge a good winner.

There was plenty to like about this display. Trained by Anton Butler and John Doyle junior and senior, the well-bred son of Koblenz and Succession edged inwards from four but was only third into the corner.

Once getting to the fence, he displayed fine determination to drive his way up the inside to move second. He took over from the fast-starting Runing Saint by halfway. It would prove a decisive moment in the contest. Poppy Cool stayed on to take second but Ashwood Ozzy emerged a two-length winner in 29.36.
