HOLLAND WITH A BRACE AS QUARTET PROGRESS IN ENGLISH OAKS

Ian Fortune

Bombay Special and Fahrenheit Jess provided Graham Holland with a superb double in the second round of the PGR Oaks across the water on Saturday night.

Aside from his two winners, he also sent out Ballydoyle Tina and Newinn Uganda to progress, meaning his four original entries are all still standing and seen as major contenders.

SPECIALS WINS WITH TINA IN THIRD

Bombay Special got the ball rolling in Heat 3.

In front from the opening strides, the high-class daughter of Dromana Bucko made every inch to beat Holding Hollie and Ballydoyle Tina by two and three quarter lengths and three parts of a length in 28.11.

JESS TOO SHARP

Fahrenheit Jess had to wait for the final heat of the night to complete the Holland double.

She too made all to hold the late challenge of the always-second Copney Queen by a half-length in a rapid 27.92.

UGANDA IMPRESSES IN DEFEAT

Newinn Uganda was third to Strike It Skye in the penultimate heat but impressed in defeat.

Despite a slow start and early crowding, she displayed huge pace and strength to force her way into a qualifying spot in the second half of the contest. She would finish just a half length and length and three quarters behind Strike It Skye and Dapper Daffy. The winner posted a fastest of the round 27.90.
