GRI
Greyhound Racing Ireland (GRI) has announced the nationwide roll-out of its digital race card platform across all GRI venues, providing racegoers with instant access to race information through QR codes located throughout each track.
Customers attending any GRI venue can now simply scan a QR code using their mobile device to access a digital race card. Importantly, the platform offers more than just local race information, allowing users to view race cards from all GRI venues nationwide, providing a comprehensive and connected experience for greyhound racing fans across the country. While printed cards will continue to be available, customers will be encouraged to use the digital option reflecting the use of QR codes now becoming widespread across hospitality and entertainment, thus reducing the need to rely solely on the print option.
Prior to the nationwide roll-out, GRI successfully piloted the digital race card platform at Galway Greyhound Stadium. The pilot provided valuable insights into customer usage and engagement, allowing the project team to make several enhancements to the user experience, including improvements to accessibility, navigation and ease of access. Following the success of the trial and the implementation of these refinements, the platform is now ready for deployment across all GRI venues nationwide.
The move significantly reduces the reliance on printed race cards and supports GRI's ambition to embed more sustainable practices throughout the organisation, while delivering greater convenience and accessibility for customers. Digital race cards will also feature Live Tote Odds, comprehensive Form Guides, expert Tips, and up-to-the-minute Results. This convenient platform ensures racegoers and punters have all the latest insights and information at their fingertips.
Tim Lucey, CEO of Greyhound Racing Ireland said, "The nationwide roll-out of digital race cards marks another important step forward in modernising how customers engage with greyhound racing. By providing instant access to race information from every GRI venue, we are creating a more connected and convenient experience for racegoers while also delivering operational efficiencies across the organisation”, he added, “This initiative also reflects our commitment to sustainability through identifying practical and meaningful ways to reduce our environmental impact while continuing to improve the customer journey."
The digital race card platform forms part of GRI's broader programme of innovation and the strategic objectives of its Strategic Plan 2025-2029 aimed at strengthening the long-term sustainability of the industry and ensuring racegoers have access to modern, user-friendly services wherever they attend racing.
The nationwide implementation demonstrates how technology can support more sustainable operations, reduce paper consumption, enhance access to information and create a more seamless experience for customers across the GRI venue network.
