GALWAY GREYHOUND STADIUM REFURBISHMENT - PROJECT UPDATE

We are delighted to confirm that a significant refurbishment programme is now underway at Galway Greyhound Stadium, with works having commenced last week.

The project will see a comprehensive refurbishment of the stadium’s public areas, including the ground floor, first floor and restaurant, with works taking place throughout August, September, October and November. The programme is scheduled to conclude with the reopening of the fully refurbished stadium on Friday, 27th November. This investment forms part of RCÉ/GRI’s wider 2025–2029 Strategic Plan and our commitment to enhancing the customer experience across our stadia, through continued investment in facilities and the overall sporting and entertainment experience we provide.

Throughout the project, our objective is to maintain racing and stadium operations wherever practically possible. However, due to the scale of the works, there will inevitably be some temporary restrictions to the facilities and services available.

The current programme provides for the following key stages:

- 31st August – 26th September: The restaurant and first-floor public areas will be fully closed while refurbishment works are undertaken.
- 2nd of October: The restaurant and first floor will reopen with restricted capacity while works continue.
- From 9th October: The full first floor is scheduled to reopen, with the refurbishment of this area largely complete.
- From 12th October to the 27th of November: The ground-floor public areas will be closed to allow the most significant phase of these works to be completed. Alternative facilities will be provided for owners, trainers and regular patrons during this period, together with a reduced food and beverage offering.
- 20th & 21st November: There will be no racing at Galway Greyhound Stadium to allow the final works to be completed.
- Friday, 27th November: Works complete with all areas fully operational.

We appreciate that there will be some disruption while these works are underway and thank our staff, customers, owners, trainers and wider stakeholders for their patience and cooperation.

This is an exciting investment in the future of Galway Greyhound Stadium. Once completed, the refurbishment will significantly improve the facilities, overall look and feel of the venue and, most importantly, the customer experience, providing a modern sporting and entertainment venue appropriate to the standing of Galway Greyhound Stadium.

As with any refurbishment project of this scale, the timelines outlined above are subject to change as works progress. Further updates will be provided to customers and stakeholders as required throughout the project.
