FUTURE CHAMPIONS TO SHINE AT ENNISCORTHY

Ian Fortune

The Future Champion and Michael Fortune Memorial Open Unraced continues at Enniscorthy this evening with two fascinating semi-finals.

The action gets underway at 8pm and it’s straight into the feature action with the two heats of the Future Champion to the first two races on the card.

GALLANT TO FOLLOW UP

The opening heat is a competitive affair with many of the line-up holding claims.

Droopys Gallant was fastest of the six last week when making every inch in a 29.46 success and he can be expected to have a big say again.

Many of the others are likely to improve on previous form, including Monbeg United. He was second in both his starts to date but displayed pace on both occasions. From an ideal draw on the fence, he could certainly have a big say.

Ballinabola Vol has also shown a decent level of form to date and won’t be shy of support. Bobsleigh Act is the most interesting runner in the field. He has yet to really threaten but represents Pat Buckley and displayed real promise in qualifying trials. It would be no surprise to see him improve considerably on form to date.

Droopys Gallant is selected to emerge on top but Monbeg United and Bobsleigh Act are greatly respected.

DALLAS TO DASH TO THE FRONT

The second heat is even hotter.

One of the competitors will race under a different name with Ballyroe Bongo now known as Jaytee Dallas after John Turner and Paul Hennessy stepped into purchase the son of Orchestrate.

He set the standard last week, posting 29.17 and remains unbeaten. He is clearly a leading fancy but he will need to be at his very sharpest to lead Clona Chase into the bend. The latter has the advantage of the inside line but needs to come away racing with the splits suggesting Jaytee Dallas nay still dictate.

Alien Freek and Monbeg Notorious have also shown a good level of form but Jaytee Dallas and Clona Chase may prove too good for their rivals and are selected to come home first and second.
