Entries were slow to come in for the Sporting Press Irish Oaks but the tally came to 54 ahead of yesterday’s lunchtime’s opening round draw.
As you would expect there is a wonderful mix of established and less exposed runners including last year’s winners A Lucky Julie and Fleadh Saraide.
Of course, the pair couldn’t be separated in a thrilling decider in 2024 and it’s great to see both back to defend. Fleadh Saraide has since had a liter of pups but has shown plenty of her own ability since returning to the track.
The Murt Leahy trained star is in action in Heat 8 where she will wear the red jacket. She will ned to be on her toes with recent impressive Shelbourne winner Clonmore Alice and the hugely talented Unanimous Roxy to contend with.
A Lucky Julie returns to action in Heat 2. Last seen in the Derby decider, the Jerry Melia trained powerhouse wears the stripes and faces some useful rivals including Badminton Shiv, Omey Mist and Ballinabola Emma.
