The second round heats of the Faypoint Sean @ Stud Treaty Cup also featured at Limerick on Saturday night and Stonepark Browne stole the show with a devastating performance for Michael Sean O’Dwyer and Michael O’Donovan.
Stonepark Brown has promised plenty over the two-bend trip since his eye-catching performance on debut in the Kirby and it’s fair to say that he delivered in bucket loads last night at the Dock Road circuit. Indeed, the hugely fast son of Malachi and Coolavanny Ella sneaked through on night one as he finished fourth, however, he made no mistake when donning the more favourable blue jacket in heat one. Sent to traps as a 9/4 chance, Browne incredibly didn’t break at all well, however, he immediately left his rivals for dust in the opening strides as he stormed past Yahoo Puff. In doing so, he had manufactured a four length lead over Gundy in second and he drew clear thereafter to cross the line five lengths clear of his rival. The previous track record was held by Ballinakill Alf when he posted 18.22 this time last year but the time on this occasion was a phenomenal 18.12, one and a half lengths quicker than ‘Alf’s’ time. One suspects that the Bar One Racing National Sprint is next on the agenda for this greyhound after the conclusion of the Treaty Cup, where he is most certainly the one to beat going forward.
MILO BACK TO WINNING WAYS
Heat two saw Satin Milo (5/2) get back to winning ways for Con Guiney.
A fast start from trap three saw ‘Milo’ just get the better of Tally Ho Rose on the crucial run to the opening bend and he chopped off his rival to shoot clear around the bottom two bends. Thereafter, the son of Jacob Tashadelek and Satin Abbie stormed up the hill to cross the line four lengths clear of Feshtys Mo in second. The time was 18.41.
HEALYS REMAINS UNBEATEN
The remaining second round heat was claimed by Healys Legacy as he maintained his unbeaten run in the stake for Vincent McKenna and the Garrafrauns-Syndicate.
Running from trap three, Healys Legacy (Droopys Sydney - Droopys Lucia) was up against the formidable Road Exile, however, he was the beneficiary of a thunderous start from three to easily lead. In doing so, the 9/4 chance developed a clear lead but was now chased by the rapidly improving Road Exile out wide. The latter was making ground with every stride on the run for home, however, the damage was done early on as Healys Legacy raced to a two and a half length success. The time was 18.44.
