BLASTOFF SET TO CLAIM DESERVING SUCCESS AT ENNISCORTHY

Ian Fortune

Elite Blastoff was destined to open his career account in some style in the semi-finals of the Lord Unraced at Enniscorthy on Thursday night when clear of his rivals only for the jacket to come off the lure.

It was clearly disappointing or Myles Roban, who owns the promising son of King Sheeran, but he will also take great heart from the display. Tonight, the re-run semi-final is part of a nine-race card at Enniscorthy and Elite Blastoff is chosen to finally get off the mark.

Of his rivals, the unbeaten Seamount King is greatly respected. He has shown tremendous early speed in his previous starts and while he didn’t lead in last week’s voided race, it would be no surprise to see him go up faster tonight.

He held Elite Blastoff by a neck in the third round and will be hoping to do the same tonight. One suspects Elite Blastoff is a rapid improver, however, and if he does come away racing could very quickly emerge as the one to beat. Of the remainder, Bombay Hawk has loads of foot and is respected from a kind draw on the fence, while Ballymac Kandoo is also pretty useful but Elite Blastoff is chosen to lad home Seamount King and Bombay Hawk.

The remainder of the Enniscorthy card features a number of stake finals. There are nine races in all and the action gets underway at 8pm.
