EUGENE GLEESON

Greyhound racing lost a dear friend in recent days with the sad passing of Eugene Gleeson.

Eugene was involved in greyhound racing for many years, breeding, rearing and racing many talented dogs through the years. Many carried his ‘Monamolin’ prefix and he loved nothing more than sending out a winner or two at Enniscorthy, while was always greatly respected when he made the journey up to Dublin.

Only recently, when battling illness, he got great joy out of Legit News winning races around Newbridge. He bred the bitch and reared her before his nephew took her to run for a syndicate based out of the Step Inn in Dublin. The Jerry Melia trained bitch has won three times around Newbridge and it gave Eugene a real kick.

Greatly liked by all that knew him, we wend on our sincerest condolences to his wife Frances, his daughter Emma and sons Gary and Ryan, his beloved grandchildren Tiernan, Darragh, Sean, Cian and Doireann, his extended family and many friends.

Funeral Details

Eugene Gleeson Ballinvalley, Monamolin, Gorey Co. Wexford and formerly of Stepaside, Enniskerry. Died 3rd September after a brief illness at his residence. Beloved husband of Frances and loving father of Emma, Gary and Ryan. Deeply regretted by his loving wife, daughter, sons, sister, brothers, cherished grandfather of Tiernan, Darragh, Sean, Cian and Doireann, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours.

Eugene will be reposing at his residence (Y25N260) on Tuesday from 3.00pm to 8.00pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 12.00 noon in St. Moling's Church Monamolin, Gorey (Y25AX05) Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
