RAPID AGAIN QUICKEST IN BRUSSELS MEMORIAL

RAPID AGAIN QUICKEST IN BRUSSELS MEMORIAL

Peter Farrell

After recording the fastest time of the opening round of the Liam Brussels Memorial last weekend, So Its Rapid raised the bar once more with another polished performance at Galway Greyhound Stadium last night.

Trained by Vincent McKenna for Paul Pardy, So Its Rapid looks like a dog on a mission since returning from a slight layoff and he built on his impressive 28.89 estimate last time out to run out a dominant winner of heat three. Running from trap six, So Its Rapid came away racing on the outside and he already held a clear advantage rounding the opener. Stretching clear down the back, the talented son of Rossbirr Ranger and Classy Ebony turned this into a procession as he crossed the line with over nine lengths to spare. Crokers Tyson second best in behind, the time was a slick 28.94 .20s.

LISK SEALS BACK-TO-BACK DOUBLE FOR MCKENNA

Just like last weekend, Lisk Falcon also landed his second round assignment and in doing so, sealed another nice double for the kennel of Vincent McKenna.

Hoping to secure a hat-trick coming into the opening heat of the night, Lisk Falcon picked up where he left off last weekend with another off-the-pace performance. Only moderately into stride from trap five, it was in fact Jumbo Bella who led early from two but was joined upon entrance to the back straight by the 4/5 favourite, Lisk Falcon. Taking command at this point, the son of Magical Bale and Heathlawn Robin set a strong gallop thereafter and held off the strong finish from Lady Nessy in second. One and a half lengths separating the pair, the time was 29.14 .20s.

POWERFUL MAKITA

In the remaining heat of the night, Makita powered her way into the next round with a comfortable victory for Thomas and Oisin O’Connor.

Makita (Rising Brandy - Drahbeg Princess) had to settle for second last time out in behind Kilara Ivy but she was to reverse form with that rival last night. Running from trap one, Makita was a 5/2 chance at the off and she was much sharper into stride this time around to lead early doors. Holding a three length advantage down the back from Malbay Theo in second, the leader continued to set a strong gallop and she was four lengths better off than the staying on, Kilara Ivy, in second. The time was 29.29 .20s.

SLICK JIM SEALS MCKENNA TREBLE ELSEWHERE

Elsewhere on the card, Ballygraigue Jim posted the fastest time over the standard trip as he justified his even money pricetag to give Vincent McKenna a night to remember.

A fantastically consistent greyhound, Ballygraigue Jim was bidding for a magical seventeenth career victory and his third win from his last four starts and he could hardly have been more impressive for connections. Jointly owned by Thomas and Charlie Bourke, the son of Silverhill Shay and Newlawn Minnie made full use of his rails pitch in one to lead early and take a two length lead into the back. Setting a ferocious gallop at this point, Ballygraigue Jim extended his lead in the closing stages as he came home six and three parts of a length clear of Cloonturk Bruno in second. The time was 28.90 .20s.
