GREAT WORK CONTINUES AT CLONMEL AHEAD OF MUNSTER JUVENILE FINAL ON SUNDAY

Peter Farrell

Things at Clonmel Greyhound Stadium have much improved in the recent few months due to great work being done by the members of the track maintenance committee.

Over the past few months, there have been numerous improvements made to the venue with the primary focus geared towards the welfare of greyhounds. Maintenance has been carried out on the track bends, clearing sand from around the hare rail, painting, grass cutting, and all other additional duties required to ensure the track is as safe as possible to race your greyhounds.

In addition, all sprinkler heads have been replaced on the track's watering system, which is also fantastic for the welfare aspect of the sport. This substantial initiative was partly funded by the Track Membership, but a very significant contribution was also given by both the Tipperary Greyhound Owners and Breeders association, and the Irish Greyhound and Breeders Federation. Clonmel would like to express their gratitude to this work, which wouldn’t have been possible without this great support.

As well as the Sprinklers, all the support posts (approximately 100) had to be replaced on the Galvanised fencing around the track. All this work was again done by the Track Maintenance committee and special thanks are extended to Pollard Fuels of Clonmel who kindly sponsored the posts, and to the track maintenance team who arranged for the post driver to be on site on the day. Great thanks are also extended to all of the volunteers and committee members who have and continue to work to improve the track and who make themselves available at all times to help out.

With the 2022 Stud Owners Munster Juvenile Cup happening on Sunday, a final word of thanks is extended to the sponsors of this historic event. Michael Dunphy of the Droopys Stud, Michael Dunne of the Frightful Flash Kennels, and Sean Bourke of Newpark stud all stepped in to sponsor this €5,000 to the winner event this year and they are also sponsoring many of the sweepstake finals on the undercard.
