OLLIE’S GET IT RIGHT IS SPECIAL

Ian Fortune

A superb 21.12 debut over the 400yd trip at Dundalk suggested that Get It Right was potentially very talented but the son of Newinn Taylor and No Recollection went ballistic at Dundalk in his second career start on Saturday confirming that he could be very special.

Ollie Bray’s well-bred youngster was simply awesome as he saw off a talented field that included the Gold Cup champ Bogger Hunter as well as some very useful sprinters. Breaking on terms from the outside box, the October ’21 puppy started to get the better of his rivals halfway to the bend.

By the time they started turning, he had just over a length to spare but he quickly found himself clear as his rivals clashed. It scarcely mattered, however, as Get It Right was relentless up front. Despite his inexperience, he drove further and further clear to eventually strike the line eight and a half lengths clear of Bogger Hunter in a brilliant fastest of the year 20.92. Have no doubt, the winner is hugely talented and could be set for a huge career.

STREET SETS A STRONG STANDARD

Princes Street set the standard in the semi finals of the Paddy and Eamon Carroll Memorial with a superb 28.66 return.

Representing the Francie Murray/ Howard Wallace combo, the powerful son of Storm Control and Lang Syne was always close enough to make his strength count.

Diggy Liggy Lo went up fastest and led for much of the way but Princes Street was always too close in second and he came through on the run in to score by a length and a quarter.

FOUR WINDS FINISHES FASTEST

Four Winds Blow won the second heat in similar fashion, riding a bump on the turn to enter the back straight in second.

Moss Row Jemmy set a strong gallop but just wasn’t strong enough to contain the fast finishing Four Winds Blow.

Owned jointly by Daire O’Donnell and Ignatius Hampsey, the son of Footfield Flash and Madabout Bella really stormed home to win by two and a quarter lengths in 28.71.
