NEWS MAKES THE HEADLINES IN JUST VAPE DECIDER

There was a handsome €1,000 on offer last night as the ‘Just Vape A4/A5 525’ sweepstake came to a conclusion at Lifford Greyhound Stadium and it went the way of the favourite as Pavilion News produced a sparkling performance.

Trained by Aidan McVeigh for Richard Irwin in Armagh, Pavilion News is a full brother to the top class sprinter Pavilion Fire and he too looked equally as impressive last night as he produced a career best display. After winning the opening two rounds of this stake in comprehensive style, the June black had plenty in hand in terms of the clock and as a result, he was sent off as the red-hot favourite to make it a hat-trick. Running from trap five, Pavilion News missed the kick and was led comfortably into the opening corner as Ellabbie, as expected, dictated the pace from trap two. However, Irwin’s charge tracked brilliantly early on as he got across to the rails to shoot up the inside of trap four, Bashful Orla. Now an improving third heading into the back straight, the son of Good News and Bubbly Bluebird quickly breezed past Got The Name in three and he was very much building up ahead of steam approaching the penultimate bend, where he now had to negotiate Ellabbie, who continued to set a relentless gallop out in front. A stout stayer however, Pavilion News reeled in his rival in the semi finals and he was to deliver a similar outcome this time around as he powered into the home straight, closing with every stride. Storming to the front late on, this was a terrific display from this ever-improving youngster and he had around three parts of a length to spare over the gallant Ellabbie, who also ran a brilliant race in second. The time was a scorching 28.77. Congratulations are extended to connections of Pavilion Fire and thanks are also extended to ‘Just Vape’ for their generous sponsorship of this event.
