CHARLIE RUNS AWAY FROM RIVALS AT ENNISCORTHY

Ian Fortune

Brian Carmody’s Runaway Charlie lived up to his name in the second round of the Time Greyhound Nutrition Open Unraced at Enniscorthy on Monday night, racing clear of his rivals to emerge a comfortable winner in a fastest of the night 29.08.

The Pat Buckley trained son of Droopys Sydney and Pennys Baccata was always in charge after a fast start and went on to beat Glitzy Magic by three and a half lengths. #

SPIRIT TOO GOOD

Next fastest was David Buckley’s Paradise Spirit as he dominated in Heat 3.

The son of Ice On Fire and Paradise Asia made virtually every inch to come home a length and a half clear of Ballinabola Sam in 29.22.

COCO POPS UP TO COMPLETE BUCKLEY DOUBLE

Fifteen minutes later, Dave Buckley completed a wonderful double with Annual Coco coming out on top in the final heat.

The son of Droopys Sydney and Allowdale Coco led from the opening turn but was headed into the third turn by the advancing Honeysuckle Syd. Annual Coco rallied on the run in, however, and got back up to win by three parts of a length in 29.28.

MAESTRO COMES THROUGH TO SCORE

The opening heat saw Ela Maestro come through on the run in to beat long time pace-setter Nene Valley.

Trained by Peter Cronin for Michael Cronin and Alex Antoniou, he was never too far away but came with a strong challenge off the final turn to take up the running. The son of Droopys Sydney and Traceys Pet won by a half length in 29.52.
