BRILLIANT DISPLAY FROM BALLINABOLD ED IN RACE OF CHAMPIONS FINAL

Barry Drake

A recent winner of the RPGTV 600 at Shelbourne Park, Ballinabola Ed ran out a fantastic winner of the €15,000 Callaway Rambler @ Stud Race of Champions final at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium on Friday night.

Trained by Pat Buckley for Brendan Murphy, the well-backed even-money winner was making it eight wins on the trot in the feature final.

Showing enough early speed to slip around in second, it was Ballymac Sameul who exploded from traps to set a very strong early gallop. Little between the front two for a lot of the way, the impressive winner took control at the second last corner and he pulled away for another sensational winning performance, clocking a superb, 29.23. Just like last week Raha Mofo put on a huge finish, fifth at the second last corner, she flew home to get within three lengths of the winner. Radical Hero was third, a length and a half behind the runner-up.

CAUGHT THE EYE
In other races, Saleen Jet caught the eye with a stunning display in the final of the €1,250 to the winner K.G.S.S.C Novice Stakes Final.

Trained by Patrick O'Connor for Tom O'Connor, the July son of Airmount Nando and Hunters Sophia, the 1-3 favourite was in control early and the exciting young talent went on to win, in a top class, 28.31, two lengths clear of Bobsleigh Champ.
