It was fitting that Dun Loich should post the fastest time in the opening round of the Mary Ramsbottom Memorial ON2 Unraced.

The son of Man Twenty One and Pennys Queen actually trained by Karol Ramsbottom, a son of Mary.

Prominent early, the promising type was second into the turn before asserting as they hit the back straight. Once doing so, the Gavin Johns owned youngster eased away to record a facile six and a half length victory over Westpoint Inky in 29.29.

MAGPIE FLIES

Ann Guilfoyle’s Kilcarrig Magpie was next fastest when winning Heat 4 in 29.34.

The massive son of Good News and Rental Dispute led throughout to score by nine lengths from Kilgowan Carol.

GARFIO NEXT QUICKEST

Captain Garfio is certainly bred in the purple as a son of Droopys Sydney and Ballymac Petsy and he made the most of a flying start to hold Native Rebel in a tight finish to Heat 4.

Kenneth Busteed’s November ’20 whelp held on to win by the minimum margin in 29.38.

The remaining heats went to the Scott Phelan trained Threesixfive in 29.80 and the Tommy O’Donovan trained Coolanga Rebel in 29.42.
