BOGGER DOUBLE IN QUALITY NIGHT AT THURLES

BOGGER DOUBLE IN QUALITY NIGHT AT THURLES

Peter Farrell

There were just eight races down for decision last night at Thurles Greyhound Stadium but this didn’t take away from the quality with some brilliant performances throughout the card.

Of the standout winners, Liam Peacock sent out a double and it was his Bogger Bible in particular who produced an outstanding performance to justify his 5/4 favouritism.

Only a September whelp, Bogger Bible qualified in supreme fashion and he did his reputation no harm as he performed very well throughout the Kilkenny Champion Open Unraced to reach the decider just seven days ago. However, making his first start at Thurles last night, the son of Skywalker Farloe and Bottle Of Banter showed huge class as he came from off-the-pace to score in fantastic style. Well away from trap three, Bogger Bible had to settle for second early on as Cabra Sonic led early doors. Looking menacing throughout, Bogger Bible took charge down the back straight and from here, the classy pup showed big pace to go clear. Setting a powerful gallop in the closing stages, Bogger Bible was two lengths too strong for Rorys Sabb as the clock returned a brilliant 28.98 .20s.

Shortly after, Bogger Biggav ran out a comfortable winner of a 570-yard contest in race six. An even money shot at the off, Bogger Biggav didn’t come away too fluently from five and was forced to nestle in behind Firminos Ruby early on. Taking charge at the midway point however, the son of Dorotas Woo Hoo and Ballintee Babe powered to the front and from here, he was two and a half lengths too good for Stage Bobtheboss in second. The time was 31.54 .20s.

GOOD WOMAN

Aside from the Peacock double, there was another incredible performance in race seven as Good Woman scored over the two-bend trip.

Jointly owned by John and Maria Kennedy, Good Woman is very lightly raced for a February whelp but her 16.39 qualifying trial at Waterford pointed to obvious ability. Out like a light from the orange jacket, the well-made daughter of Belles Direction and Cracking Prim had Confused Fitzy and Code Sky for company early on but she soon took charge rounding the opening turn. Tracking expertly thereafter, the brindle drew clear on the run for home and she was six lengths better off from Confused Fitzy in second. The time was a scorching 17.61 .10s.

NICE APPROACH

In race five, Great Approach made every yard of the running to score for the Feelgood-Racing-Syndicate.

Only a September whelp, the dark brindle was chasing a first career win and he broke swiftly from two to pace up and lead into the bend. From there, the son of Dks Prime Time and Cabra Roxy was made to work hard by Cabra Beauty but he held firm to win by a neck. The time was a fast 29.18 .20s.
