STRONG LATE RUN FROM NAUGHTY NAUGHTY IN CURRAHEEN FEATURE

Barry Drake

NAUGHTY NAUGHTY delivered a strong late run to win the final of the €2,000 Denis Murphy Memorial A2 stake at Curraheen Park on Saturday night.

It was a wonderful success for owners Jack Foley McGann and Lillian McGann. A 5-1 shot in the betting market, the winner produced one of her better breaks which allowed her to turn alongside the early pace. Blarney Boy sailed around the opening corners in front and with plenty of trouble in behind, the front two were soon clear. Naughty Naughty has plenty of staying power and she dug deep in the closing stages to get the better of the front-running Blarney Boy. It really was a stunning performance, clocking a career best of 28.61 in the final. Hot favourite Da Tapper Flynn showed massive gears to finish third, just a half a length behind the runner up, however, the night belonged to the McGann family as they enjoyed a fantastic win.

Naughty Naughty for Jack & Lillian McGann, winner of the Denis Murphy Memorial A2 final in association with CPSC.

IMPRESSIVE
Local trainer Johnny Linehan had two classy runners in the seventh and it was Droopys Zelda who came home in front for owners the O'Neills-On-Tour-Syndicate.

Odds on favourite Droopys Rocker stumbled from traps and that ended his chances right away. Burgess Jack set a sizzling gallop up front and he moved four or five clear heading down the back. The 5-2 winner, an October puppy, was second for most of the journey, but she was much the stronger in the closing stages and she went on to win, by a length and a half, in 28.60. (AA0/A0).

CPSC RACE
The Curraheen Park Supporters Club continue to do fantastic work and the Ger McCarthy Construction and CPSC 525 A5 was won by Gortnagrage Kate.

A fine front running display to win the €500 first prize for owners James Doody and Liam Walsh. A 29.22 winning run from the 3-1 shot.

THREE ON THE NIGHT FOR LYNCH
Local trainer Kieran Lynch enjoyed a fine treble on the night.

Stellenbosch was the first to oblige when winning the S2 sprint, in 17.75, at odds of evens, for owners Eoin Ivers and Fintan Lawlor.
In the following race, Rebel Ocean made the most of the rails pitch to win the A2, in 28.72, for owner Vincent O'Keeffe. The 2-1 shot impressed with a strong all round display.
Bartlemy Sham completed the three timer when landing the closing race on the card, the Curraheen Park Getting Out Stakes, for owner Liam Mannix. Flying from traps, the 3-1 winner just made the corner in front and the strong running tracker kept finding throughout. A powerful display to beat Coosey Hall, by a length and a half, in 31.45. (575).
