WARM WEATHER EVENT – ADJUSTMENTS TO RACING

GRI

Rásaíocht Con Éireann (RCÉ) is monitoring the progress of the extreme hot weather forecast for the coming days and has considered the care and welfare needs of racing greyhounds in the context of upcoming Racing and Trial Schedules. At this point RCÉ wishes to advise of the following:

  • - Racing and Trial Activity at all Stadia is immediately suspended from 12 noon to 6.30 p.m. on Saturday 16th July and Sunday 17th July.
  • - There will be no trial activity at any Stadium on Monday 18th July.
  • - Racing will not proceed at Mullingar on Sunday 17th July (SIS Meeting)
  • - Racing will not proceed at Enniscorthy or Youghal (SIS Meeting) on Monday evening, 18th July.
  • - RCÉ will review upcoming fixtures at each venue daily at 1.30pm and further notices will be issued regarding rescheduling of any relevant race meetings on the RCÉ website  www.grireland.ie .
  • - This review may result in weigh in times/race off times being delayed.
  • - Amended arrangements on these times will be issued via website updates and Owners and Trainers are asked to be mindful of these important updates.

Arrangements are being made at tracks to ensure that additional water points including greyhound baths are made available and additional ventilation in kennels where appropriate.

Owners and trainers are reminded of the importance of good ventilation in transportation arrangements for greyhounds and ensuring that adequate water and other supports are available for all greyhounds.  Please click here to view a reminder of some tips 'caring for the greyhound in hot weather’ from RCÉ/GRI.

RCÉ will review the position on a daily basis in light of up-to-date weather forecast.
