SUSIE LOOKING RESPLENDENT AFTER DATE WITH SUPER SYDNEY

Ian Fortune

Susie Sapphire may have been retired recently after coming in season but she looks very happy in herself judging by the latest pics taken last week by one of her greatest fans and daughter of owner Peter, Jeannie Comerford.

Jeannie reports the brilliant Derby, Oaks and Easter Cup winner in tremendous form at home and the pics certainly back up that view. Of course, the pics were taken shortly after her date with Droopys Sydney so it perhaps no surprise to see her looking so happy with herself.

It’s early days yet but hopefully she will produce a litter of pups not too long before the Derby decider. Now, that would be something. One suspects the pups in question will be under more scrutiny than most but, given their pedigree, it’s hardly a surprise.

Certainly, Droopys Sydney is doing plenty to keep the hype train rolling. On Saturday night, at Shelbourne Park, he was responsible for no fewer than eight of the ten winners including the Corn Cuchulainn Champion Crafty Kokoro and the brilliant duo of Coolavanny Hoffa and Twoinarow, while both heats winners of the Shelley Fennelly Memorial at Curraheen Park were also daughters of the great sire.

What he is achieving as a sire is scarcely believable and we could be seeing another couple of years of dominance given the pedigrees of some of his pups on the ground. A certain Susie Sapphire will also aim to keep the Droopys Sydney flag flying and judging by Jennie’s pics below, she doesn’t seem fazed by the idea.
