RÁSAÍOCHT CON ÉIREANN TRACEABILITY SYSTEM – RCETS – IMPORTANT NOTICE

GRI

Rásaíocht Con Éireann (RCÉ) has been undertaking a range of inspections under the Welfare of Greyhounds Act to also incorporate a cross-check with data recorded in its traceability system – RCETS - relating to racing greyhounds.  It is apparent that in a small number of cases that updates to the traceability system have not been provided in respect of individual racing greyhounds.

RCÉ wishes to advise that it is essential that the Traceability System (RCETS) reflects real time information regarding the status of each greyhound.  In that regard RCÉ stresses the importance of ensuring that traceability records are up to date at all times.

Owners and Trainers are advised that pursuant to the Greyhound Industry (Racing) Regulations 2007 – 2022, that racing greyhounds assigned to an owner/trainer will not be listed for a trial or race events, in cases where greyhounds/owned/trained by them have incomplete records on the RCETS system.

Additionally, Owners and Trainers are required under Section 10 of the Welfare of Greyhounds Act 2011, to notify the Irish Coursing Club within 14 days, in the event of:

  • - The sale/transfer (which includes a transfer for rehoming purposes) of a greyhound – name and address of the person to whom greyhound is sold/transferred to is required (or rehoming organisation)
  • - The acquisition or purchase of a greyhound – name and address of the person to whom the greyhound is purchased or acquired from
  • - The death of a greyhound.

The RCETS system can be accessed through the RCETS app (available for both iPhones and android phones) or from www.rcets.ie. If you need to check that your details are correct or need further help with RCÉTS, please contact our Traceability Helpdesk.
