HOT PROSPECTS IN BALLYMAC ANTON @ STUD STAKE

Barry Drake

Round two of the Ballymac Anton @ Stud stakes took place at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium on Saturday night and it produced some brilliant displays.

Quickest on the clock was Westwind Flame as Michael O'Rourke's October puppy recorded back-to-back winning performances with another smashing display.

The 1-3 favourite showed nice early pace to take control just before the opening corner. In top gear up front, the exciting prospect went on to win in style, coming home with six lengths to spare over Misty Melody in second. The time was an outstanding 28.28.

NEXT BEST ON THE CLOCK

Next best on the clock was Strideaway Lena who scored in 28.38 for James O'Mahony.

The September puppy was another to make it back-to-back wins. In front early on, it was all one-way traffic up front as the 1-3 favourite won with plenty to spare. Another superb display, seven lengths clear of Pennylane Dusty who was back in second.

IN OTHER HEATS

Outdoor Rainbow was another impressive winner for trainer Liam O'Callaghan and owner Michael Hennessy. Getting away to her best start, the 6-4 winner slipped around in front. Strong throughout, she clocked a really good 28.48 as she pulled two and a half lengths clear of Dream Step.

Ballyfidora Sid clocked 28.91 in winning for Joseph O'Sullivan and Jeremiah Moriarty. Once again early pace was rewarded as the 7-4 shot won that all important early lead. A five-length success over Canon John who was back in second.
