MOFO AN AWARD WINNER

Marissa Molloy and Raha Mofo have been recognized for their incredible year by the Connacht Tribune.

The paper announced their Medtronic Galway Sports Stars of 2022 and the Oaks champion was ranked amongst the winners.

Said the paper of Raha Mofo, “She was the star of the Irish greyhound circuit in 2022. Eleven wins, including in one of the classics – the Sporting Press Irish Oaks at Shelbourne Park last June. Owned by Oughterard’s Marissa Molloy, Raha Mofo produed the fastest ever time in the race’s 90-year history to win the final in a blistering 28.14.

“Trained by Murt Leahy in Kiklkenny, Raha Mofo has signalled her potential earlier in the season with a runaway win in the Retired Greyhound Trust Syakes, also at Shelbourne Park. She went on to wrap up a memorable campaign in stunning style when smashing the Galway 525 track record not once but twice on her way to glory in the Galway Oaks last November. The old mark had stood or 15 years.”

It’s wonderful to be honoured for their achievements but Marissa doesn’t have much time to celebrate as Mofo’s little sister is currently lounging around her Marissa’s home heavy in pup. 2023 could be another exciting year for Raha Mofo and Marissa.
