BIG ATTENDANCE FOR LIFFORD TRIALS

Paul Murphy, the Lifford racing manager, was in touch yesterday to confirm that the north western venue hosted their first full private trial session on Saturday and no fewer than 90 greyhounds had a spin around the impressive circuit.

That was followed by their first official trial session on Tuesday with ten trials. The undoubted star of the show was Droopys Next One as she took of in a sprint trial. To put her 17.37 run into context, the track record for the 325yd trip stands at 17.38. For the record, the opening bend sectional was also in use where she recorded 4.29.

Lifford also posted a link to the trial on their Facebook page and it’s worth a look. You get a great idea of how the track will run when it reopens a few weeks from now. The long run to the turn and the long sweeping bends are a hoy to see.
