TRALEE FEATURES IN NEWEST BEHIND THE TRACK

Ian Fortune

The opening episode of the Behind The Track, #OurGreyhoundsOurLives featuring the Mahoney family, or ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’ as they have become known, proved hugely popular and was always going to be hard to follow but the IGOBF had an ace up their sleeve for the second episode.

The latest instalment is to be released at midday today, to coincide with the start of the festival of racing and the National Coursing meeting at Clonmel, and it’s certainly worth a watch. Episode two features Tralee track and the many wonderful fundraisers they run through the year.

Declan Dowling introduces the episode which features many contributors including Kerry Footballers Jack Kennelly and Paul O’Shea. Of course, Jack has turned his hand to training dogs in recent years and speaks of his love for the dog.

We also hear from Tom McCormack of University Hospital Kerry, Peter Twiss of the Kerry County Board and Betty Stack from Ardfert Central National School. Each of the trio explain how important their fundraiser at the Kingdom Stadium has become.

Some of the figures raised are truly staggering and it gives a great impression of how the local greyhound track is more than just a sporting venue, it’s a great social meeting point and a place where much needed funds can be generated. Again, well done to all in the IGOBF for their continued wonderful work with the Behind The Track docuseries.
