TIME GREYHOUND NUTRITION CORK CUP HOTTING UP

Barry Drake

Only one spot separated both semi-final winners in the Time Greyhound Nutrition Cork Cup at Curraheen Park on Saturday night.

Shonas Marshall clocked 28.56 when just getting the better of Russmur Pat in the second heat. In the ownership of David and Shona Harrington, the 5-1 shot clocked a career-best performance when putting on a fantastic finish to land the spoils. The early-paced Russmur Pat was a neck back in second, with half a length back to Trouble in third place.

STRONG THROUGHOUT

In the opening heat, Galloping Tulip scored for owner Una Creed and trainer Pat Creed.

Always handy, the 5-1 winner hit the front before halfway and she was strong home as she beat Millridge Andy, by two lengths, in 28.57. Footfield Siren was a length and a half back in third place.

IN OTHER FINALS

Drive On Shirley ran out a fine winner of the €1,000 to the winner Eddie Murphy Memorial A3 stake final.

Out the back early on, the 4-1 shot made nice ground on the back straight and in the closing stages, she proved too strong for the longtime leader Knockrour Kelly. Half a length the margin, in 28.84.

In the €1,000 to the winner final of the Psycho Star A5, it was Must Keep Going who just got the verdict over Caumrue Lemon in an exciting finish.

Matty Angland's lady, a 5-4 shot in the market, pulled out all the stops in the closing stages, winning by the shortest of margins, in 29.17.
