ROSE BLOOMS IN RACING DEBUT

ROSE BLOOMS IN RACING DEBUT

Ian Fortune

There was quite a debut from Dapper Rose at Dundalk on Friday evening. A strapping 71lb daughter of Droopys Sydney and Mustang Jill, she displayed all manner of pace to run clear of her rivals in the second semi-final of the Dundalk Stadium ON2 400.

Sam McQuaid’s youngster was wearing the stripes and it was soon evident she was going to run out a ready winner as she built a near three length lead into the turn before increasing her advantage with each impressive stride up the home straight.

By the line, she had over eight lengths to spare in a rapid 21.20. Given her superb pedigree - she’s out of a sister to Mustang Kay Cee, the dam of Mustang Jet – and her obvious talent, she is certainly on to keep an eye on in the coming months.

MANILLA TAKES OTHER HEAT

To highlight the strength of the run, Marinas Manilla was a good winner of the opening heat for Marina McKeown and Kurtis Bain in 21.64. He too displayed promise and will certainly go faster in the future
