TASTY RUN FROM BISTRO

The final of the Blackstone Kennels A2 was the feature of Friday’s action at Kilkenny and the €2,000 to the winner contest provide a remarkable finish with the first five home separated by less than two lengths.

Importantly, Sean Coogan’s Monagore Bistro was in front on the line.

The daughter of Droopys Sydney and Bull Run Bistro was never far off the pace. In fact, Monagore Bistro broke fastest from trap three but was soon headed by Lemon Nicky, while Courty Girl also went up well to sit second.

Monagore Bistro was well-positioned on the fence and this allowed her to take second spot on the bend. Lemon Nicky continued to dictate the pace down the back straight but he could never shake off his pursuers.

Courty Girl came with a rush into the third turn to move past Monagore Bistro and she soon joined Lemon Nicky. AS the last named stayed to the middle of the track, his rivals quickly moved upsides. Courty Girl only led for a matter of strides, however.

Monagore Bistro remained on the fence and she made her move as they turned for home. It was a decisive challenge although she did have to keep going right to the line. Ballygur Thor came with a wet sail from of the pace to finish just a head away in second but there was no catching Monagore Bistro, who stopped the clock in 29.35. Malvern Avenue also ran on well to finish just three parts of a length away in third.
