HOFFA THE THIRD BEND KING ONCE AGAIN

For the third time in this year’s Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby, Coolavanny Hoffa set the standard to the third turn in Saturday’s quarter finals with a blistering 16.88 return.
Showing all his electric speed, the Michael O’Donovan trained star actually posed the second fastest time of the Derby to that point, following his own sensational 16.80 return in the second round.
Born Warrior also impressed becoming just the third greyhound to dip under the 17 second mark to the third bend when clocking 16.97 in his heat. Good Cody was the first greyhound to dip under 17 seconds in the opening round, while Coolavanny Hoffa has done it twice.
For the fourth time in this year’s classic, Callaway Pro Am led to the third turn. In victory he recorded 17.06 to the third bend, just .05sec behind his best return in the second round. It suggests that he is maintaining his form remarkably well and he is the only greyhound remaining in the competition that can boast an unbeaten record through the prelims.
Ballymac Finn won the opening quarter final and posted 17.12 in the process. It’s worth point out he has a 17.01 on his card in the second round.
